Minister of the Interior Lin Youchang recently paid a visit to Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wanan to exchange views on issues related to the development of Shezi Island. Lin Youchang said that if the development of Shezi Island cannot effectively solve the subsequent traffic problems, it may become another nightmare for Taipei people. The Ministry of the Interior, based on the land planning authority, has a duty to do so and has comprehensively considered the planning situation of recent related development projects in the greater Taipei area. Later, he decided to visit the Taipei City Government in person, hoping to help the Taipei City Government propose a more forward-looking development plan for Shezi Island to avoid the traffic jams of the Neihu Science Park.

Minister of the Interior Lin Youchang went to the Taipei City Government to visit Mayor Chiang Wanan on the 26th of this month and exchanged extensive opinions on the development of Shezi Island. The two parties had frank and thorough discussions and reached a number of constructive consensuses. Lin Youchang said that in the future, the central government will work together with Taipei City Cooperate to solve the development issues of Shezi Island, and we must prevent Shezi Island from repeating the mistakes of the Neihu Science Park.

Lin Youchang led Parliamentary Secretary Hua Jingqun, Land Secretary Wang Chengji, Deputy Director of the Department of Land and Resources Xu Yanxing and others to the Taipei City Government to have in-depth discussions with Mayor Jiang Wanan, Vice Mayor Li Sichuan and others on the development of Shezi. Both sides Agree that the development of Shezi Island should avoid repeating the mistakes of internal medicine. The introduction of a public transportation system is a necessary supporting tool and should be confirmed as soon as possible. The east-west route of the Shezi Light Rail should be specifically implemented in the Shezi Island development plan to meet the transportation needs of the Shilin Beitou Science and Technology Park and the subsequent development of the Zhoumei area.
During the meeting, both parties also agreed that the future of Shezi Island should be reviewed comprehensively from the perspective of the development of the greater Taipei metropolitan area. Shuangbei City should discuss and determine the function and positioning of the Lushe Bridge as soon as possible, and jointly discuss the relationship between the Wugu Taishan Light Rail and The possibility of integrating the east-west route of the Shezi Light Rail and the location of the machine plant.

Regarding the Taipei City Government's proposal that the land use ratio for public facilities in the currently approved urban plan has reached 56%, and it may be difficult to meet the designated 5% social residential land use, the Ministry of Interior expressed its understanding and also suggested that if the Shezi Light Rail Machinery Factory is used in the future, If there is an opportunity to review the integration, we will further evaluate the possibility of increasing the land for social housing. The Taipei City Government also suggested that in the future, the remaining households of the estimated 5,000-plus project housing units planned to be built on Shezi Island and the remaining buildable land expropriated in the section can be considered to evaluate the possibility of using it as social housing.

Regarding the Shezi light rail, use zoning configuration, etc., the meeting also discussed the possibility of making appropriate adjustments in the future, and considering increasing commercial service functions from the aspects of ecology, recreation, and tourism. If there are major adjustments and revisions to urban planning in the future, internal affairs The Ministry will fully support and expedite administrative assistance.
Finally, Lin Youchang said that the day's meeting was an important step. There is still a lot to work on in the future. The central and local governments will jointly deal with the development issues of Shezi Island.
